It will be tiled on the countertop an sides, with a sink mounted on the top and the faucet coming out from the back wall.
My main concern is the construction of the vanity and details of how to attach it to the wall so that there will be no visible support giving the appearance of free floating. I’ve been told that there maybe some inwall support systems similar to in wall toilets.

The size of the vanity will be 40 inches wide by 20 deep. We would also be interested in having one shelf below the countertop.

There may or may not be any blocking in the area where you want to attach the vanity to the wall. You should be able to check this with a stud finder or by drilling very small holes in the wall. With a stud finder you should also be able to find the wall studs. They are typically on 16 inch centers.

In any case with a 40 inch width, the vanity should span at least two 2 x 4 studs since they should be 16 inches on centers.. Those should be sufficient to support a vanity with sink and tile counter top.

I would build the vanity with a 2 x 4 support frame on the back and lag bolt that to the wall studs. I would use 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch lag bolts at least 3 1/2 inches long with washers to keep the lag bolt heads from sinking into the 2 x 4 frame.

Don’t forget, you need the vanity’s vertical height to be sufficient to hide the under sink plumbing or make plans to make that portion of the plumbing attractive.

They are mounted by a very sturdy wall bracket that is in fact invisible when it is finished. I can’t help with the details but go to Popular Mechanics .com they have how to’s on everything . Byee
