So we rented out our old house so some people. As an old house it had a few minor issues. The bathroom tub faucet leaked a little. Well I guess over the years it has gotten a lot worse and we got a call saying that the floor behind it was wet ( dining area) so apparently instead of the water just dripping into the tub it was also dripping into the wall and onto the floor. I can only imagine how much damage is already done but how do I stop the leaking, is there a way to repair the faucet? Is this common for letting a leak go for years?
I am cutting holes in cementboard for my bathroom wall where the showerhead and tub faucet pipes come out. What diameter should they be? Typically the same diameter for both? Right now the hole is just big enough for the pipe nipple to come out. What about the holes in the countertop for a lever-type bathroom sink?
Something in our cold water tub faucet assembly wore out and now the faucet is spinning 360 degrees. It still works, but you never know the best place to stop when shutting off the water. What is even more odd, is that it seems that the hot water is going much, much faster; after about 10 minutes the water cools off considerably.
We have a two wall-mount faucets and a stopper in the spout. To remove the faucet I simple turned the entire assembly counterclockwise. Since the left (hot) faucet works fine, I haven’t touched it.
Now, I am left looking at a closeup of what I believe to be the stem. In the past, I have removed this and replaced the washer or O-ring in the back, but that was always to replace a faucet that couldn’t stop the flow of water.
