This is for our drinking water/household plumping system:

I have 1HP 220v surface mount jacuzzi brand jet pump (model S1CY-S) that pumps from a cistern (cistern bottom is about 8+ feet below the height of the pump). The pump needs to pump up 15′ to reach the first floor and another 10′ to reach the 2nd floor.

House has 2 full bathrooms (but with showers only), washer, dishwasher (not used often) – all sinks/faucets are fairly low/efficient water users…

The pump ran dry on 4 occasions overnight over the course of the last year or so… had to replace bent/melted pipes each time. (ran w/out water for 8-10 hours each time) as we never used to have a shutoff float-valve switch. We now have the auto-shutoff when the cistern runs dry.

The pump now seems a lot louder than it used to be and runs more often. I think our pressure/water storage tank is about 50 gallons.

Questions:
Should I look into replacing the impeller? Should I inspect them first? how do I do so?
Should I just replace the entire pump? It is a jacuzzi jet pump and is 1HP and runs on 220 right now. We live in an area where electricity is VERY costly and for a year I haven’t been able to figure out why our electrical bill is so high. I’d love to go smaller to save on electrical, but don’t want to affect water pressure in the house – I like nice strong pressure.

Is there such thing as a high efficiency pump I could buy to help with electrical costs?

thoughts?

Thanks!
it is in fact a "J-Class" pump and not a "Jacuzzi" pump like I stated
A Checkvalve is installed. The question I am asking (per the title) is should I replace the pump? is it using extra electricity due to the # of times it was running w/out water and overheating? Is it now using more electricity than originally designed for?
I just found an impeller replacement kit which includes soup to nuts a bunch of parts – but the cost is before shipping… For a few more bucks I would like to get a whole new setup. So can someone tell me if a 1/2 HP or 3/4 HP will work with my house setup and will it save me on my electrical costs?
Can someone reccomend a pump? Again – our electrical costs here are 4x the US national average to efficiency is key! Do they make quiet ones? We don’t like that we hear the existing one… but then again it could be due to the damage that we hear it
Current pump draw:
Volts: 115/230
Amps: 10.8/5.4
SF Amps: 14.4 /7.2 (not sure what this means)

How do I install a Bathroom Shower Faucet?

It’s a moen 82873 model, which just has one handle.

Smelly water from upstairs bathroom faucet/shower.?

I just moved into a 2001-built cottage which has three levels (basement, main floor and upstairs bedrooms/bathroom).

I noticed that when I turn on the water upstairs (both the shower and the faucet), the water is a bit smelly. It’s fine after running for a few seconds but there’s an initial whiff of what I would describe as "sewer smell" at first. This doesn’t happen in the main floor bathroom or the kitchen.

Does anyone know what could be causing it and how it can be stopped? I’m not as much concerned about the odor as I am about the water being safe and clean.

Thanks in advance,
DT
The source of the water is the municipal water supply (Pointe-Claire, QC)

What I find strange is that this smell only comes from one fo the bathrooms and not the other one or the kitchen.

I’m also pretty sure it’s not the drain since there is no smell at all before I turn the water on.

Leaky bathroom faucet?

I need to know how to disassemble a bathtub shower valve so I can replace the seat. It is a single hot water valve. There is a screw in the middle of the handle, which didn’t seem to allow anything to detach. What do I need to do to dissasemble the faucet?

Bathroom faucet does not line up with sink drain pipe?

I bought a new bathroom vanity with a built in sink for the corner of the bathroom. When the vanity is positioned in the corner of the bathroom the sink hole is not in line with the original drain pipes. What plumbing parts/fittings are best to use to connect them? Are there flexible bending type pipes that would work?

Our bathroom sink faucet makes a loud squealing sound when it is turned on.?

Does anyone know what that could mean?
It’s also making a clunking noise. So if that’s air, how do you get air out of the pipes?

Where can I get bathroom faucet fixtures that look like a penis?

ok, follow up from last question: My bathroom has a leaking faucet. I turned off the water from the bottom of?

the sink. and i still get a small leak coming out. Do you think I should go right ahead and just change the whole faucet unit? the unit was put on the bathroom about 6 yrs ago. please advise and happy holidays.

what could be causing a bathroom sink faucet to not have any water come out of its nozzle?

If the handle was removed water would come out but just not through the nozzle part. How could this be fixed? Could it be from too much dirty water building up inside it? Because I was turning the hot and cold water valves on and off many times under the sink to try fixing the faucet which originally had a problem leaking.

middle hole in sink for faucet pop-up is missaligned.?

I bought a Glacier Bay 4" 2 handle bathroom faucet. The middle hole for the pop-up rod sits too far back on the faucet missing the sink hole by 1/8-1/4". Any way to make this easy to correct. the sink is a wall mount from the 60′s.
I used a dremel to try sanding it some but it will take me until next week to sand it enough! Not sure if it’s worth it , but I’m too cheap to pay more for a different brand.
