The noise is inside the first floor wall. The noise will continue for a few seconds after I turn off the faucet. The noise is about one knock per second and will fade away and get longer between knocks after I turn off the faucet. I’ve been researching on the internet to determine the cause of the noise and it seems that it’s caused by the hot water line (contraction) but it also makes noise when I turn on the cold water as well. If I just ignore it, will it cause the pipe to crack? If I have to fix it, how much will it cost me approximately (probably have tear the wall)? We just bought this house two months ago.

Additional info: I checked my basement, and I could feel the vibration on the drainage pipe when the knocking noise happened. It seems that something is hitting the drainage pipe. The noise will continue when I’m using the faucet as well (not only when I turn on and off) and it comes and goes but if I turn it on long enough, most of the time the noise will come.

Last week I had a huge leak of hot water out of my bathroom faucet, like the faucet was open 100% while the handle was DOWN. So I turned off the house water and tried to remove the cap thinking I could just replace the seals. 3 hours later and the sink was wrecked and the valves below also were leaking. I just couldn’t get it open, possibly due to calcium deposits.
Anyway so I had to call a plumber and this is what he did:
1 – replace old faucet with a new Moen
2 – new valves
3 – cut out old brass pipes and replace with plastic all the way back to the wall
All together this cost me 5, is that way too much? I had no choice since I needed to turn the water back on for my house.

My Bathroom (the one room I wish I could change), has a light pink wall tile and off white with a pink hue floor tile. There are seashells on a few of the tile in the shower. I want dark bold colors for the new seasons but can’t figure out what will look good. I’ve had dark gray and blue and am tired of them. Can I use reds or should I stick to black and greens? Shower stall and faucets are gold. Anyone have GOOD suggestions?

Trying to match the dacor of a new home. Should the bathroom and kitchen fixtures match the finishes of the door knobs and/or lighting or can you mix and match. We are looking into having brushed nickel fixtures and door knobs while having oil rubbed bronze pendant lighting and wall sconces.

I need to build a bathroom in our bonus room behind the garage because my mother is going to move in there and she is handicapped. The washer and dryer are in there, so there are water lines close. I have estimated by shopping online that the shower stall, doors, faucets, sink, vanity, sink faucet, and toilet will be a little less than 0, so I am just wondering what it will cost to do the plumbing and build to walls. Also, is the plumbing easy, if so i could do it myself. We wont have a bath tub, just a shower, sink, and toilet. THANKS!

I have a separate shower and bathtub. I’m adding a walk in pantry to my kitchen. Part of it will be where the shower is now. I want to put the shower with the bath tub. I don’t want to take down the wall to add the shower. Is there by any chance a bathroom faucet that has an attachment on top of it to add one of them flexible spray shower heads?

I want to cover the bathroom faucet in my baby’s bathroom, so he doesn’t bump his head on it someday. I sit with him while he’s taking a bath, but kids move quick, and every time I give him a bath all I can think about is that sharp edge and his head…
We have a standard faucet, with a shower diverter that is close to the wall (not on the front part of the faucet) and changing the spout isn’t an option. There are only two faucet covers I’ve seen, and both of those require that the diverter be at the front (not the back like mine) Those are from Boon and KidCo, and neither fit on my faucet, I tried..
Anyone have a creative suggestion for how I can cover the faucet, and still allow water out, and not have to put a cover on, then take it off, every time I give the baby a bath? 10 pts if you give a real answer, and actually READ my question!
Sorry, maybe I wasn’t specific enough, but the usual covers won’t fit, because we have the diverter. And I ‘ve heard the character ones don’t stay on too well… unless someone else knows of one that will…I have to find one with access to the diverter, or find a different solution.

I am needing to fix a bathroom faucet which is leaking, so i need to turn off the water supply to my house. The valve by the street is way too tight and will not turn. I did notice two pipes from the wall in my laundry room which come into the water heater (gas) one pipe has red valve on it. I’m assuming that might turn off the water to my house maybe? If it does, do i need to turn off the flame to the water heater for any reason while I’m messing with this stuff?
The valve is red.
